PROF.JOHN KURAKAR
Prof. John Kurakar. Elected as the
Global Council Trustee of United Religions Initiative in june,2014. “The United
Religions Initiative community in 86 countries of the world enthusiastically welcomes
Prof. John Kurakar as the Global council trustee of the fast growing
International Interfaith Association. Prof. Kurakar is coming from Kottarakara
St. Gregorios College where he served for three decade as the professor in
Malayalam Language and Literature and coordinator of Continuing Education in
University of Kerala.Kurakar’s work at St.Gregorios College is widely
acknowledged as a good teacher and a
Social thinker. He involved many movements and associations related to,
Literature, Art. Palliative Care, Social Service, World Peace and Religious
harmony. Kurakar is a recognized as a Social thinker, Social worker and the author
and editor of several books and numerous articles, including Education ‘Social
Service, Adult Education, and Transformation: Religious Pluralism, Spirituality
and a New Vision for Higher Education in Kerala. In 1979 John Kurakar founded
Kerala Kavya Kala Sahithy, an Education and Literary Organization working with
Schools and Colleges in Kerala to promote co-curricular activities, religious
pluralism and world Peace. He also posted more than 12000 (twelve thousand
articles in his website (www.profkurakar.blogspot.com)
that is “window of Knowledge”. In 2008 he founded a an Association for
charitable work “Kerala Association for Palliative Care Initiative” . He served
more than one decade as the programme officer for National Service Scheme in
St. Gregorios College and received
awards from Kerala University for Best Programme Officer in continues five
years. Prof. Kurakar also served more than five years as the programme
co-ordinator for Asult and Population Education in University of Kerala. He worked many years in
Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Prishathu as the Dist secreary. Co-editor of Science
Magazines like “Grama Sasthram, Sasthragathi etc. Prof. Kurakar is now working
as the chairman of the South India- Sri-Lanka Region of the United Religions
Initiative.
